Tonle Sap Environmental Improvement Project in Pursat Phase 1 Officially Inaugurated

The first phase of the Tonle Sap Environmental Improvement Project, featuring the construction of a sewer system and a wastewater treatment plant in Pursat, has been officially inaugurated. This milestone was marked by an inauguration ceremony led by HE Ros Vanna, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, on 2 June 2024.

Located in Sangkat Phteah Prey, Pursat city, Pursat province, the project spans a total area of 233 hectares, with the wastewater treatment plant itself covering 3 hectares. Construction commenced on 22 January 2020 and concluded on 19 June 2023, adhering to a 36-month schedule.

Funded by a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), this project represents a significant stride in urban environmental management around the Tonle Sap Lake. Former Pursat Governor Mr. Chiao Tai emphasised the project’s transformative impact, stating that it is a “new achievement that makes the province change from day to day, especially to meet the living needs of the people to another level.” (Read more)
