US$160 million Morodok Techo Stadium 100% Complete, to Officially Handover in October

The construction of the Chinese-funded US$160 million Morodok Techo Stadium has finally been 100%, with a handover ceremony scheduled for October, according to the Cambodian SEA Games organizing Committee (CAMSOC)’s announcement on Thursday 19 August.

CAMSOC Secretary-General Vath Chamroeun said that his body is now requesting the government to examine the possibility of holding a handover ceremony that is set for October.

“This stadium is built following international standards, which can host events and competitions at all levels, both national and international,” said HE Chamroeun.

“We are also thinking of bidding to host the AFF Suzuki Cup 2021 in December and many other competitions; and definitely, we will host the 2023 SEA Games,” he added.

With ground broken in April 2017, the stadium is being built by China State Construction Engineering Corporation on over 94 hectares in Prek Ta Sek commune, Russey Keo district with US$160 million of Chinese grant aid.

The stadium will be able to accommodate over 60,000 visitors.
