Vietnam Invests Nearly US$76m to Connect Quang Nam Province to Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand

Vietnam is set to invest over US$75.8 million to construct a 90km road upgrade project connecting Quang Nam province to the Central Highlands region and neighbouring countries: Lao, Cambodia and Thailand.

The project, which was launched by the transport ministry and provincial People’s Committee, will renovate 74km of NR14E from 2021 to 2025, with the rest of the route connected to NR1 and the Da Nang – Quang Ngai Expressway already a direct investment by Quang Nam province.

According to the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam (DRVN), once completed, the project will shorten travel distances and facilitate the transport of goods between Vietnam’s Central Highlands, northern and south-central coastal provinces, and southern Laos, north-eastern Cambodia, and Thailand.

As the route connects various neighbouring countries, it is expected to increase cross-border trade and investment, contributing to the growth of the region’s economy. The improved connectivity will also make it easier for tourists to travel between the countries, promoting tourism and cultural exchanges.
