H.E. Sun Chanthol: Don’t ask what Cambodia has done for you, ask what have we have done for Cambodia

“Don’t ask what Cambodia has done to us, ask what we have we done for Cambodia,” said H.E. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, as he urged all citizens to participate in building and maintaining national infrastructure achievements during his inspection visit on the quality and technical specifications of National Road 7 on 10 June 2020.

With this statement, he requested all citizens to be good citizens for the country by respecting traffic laws and taking part in maintaining the quality of all roads together.

“On this occasion, I request to all the trucking companies to respect traffic laws, do not overload goods, which can damage our roads,” he said.

Urging all citizens to join with government to build and maintain bridges, hospitals, pagodas, to build our nation to be more prosperous under the leadership of PM Hun Sen, Chantol explained that, “Wherever I go, I always leave the slogan for our citizens to consider…, respect the laws, don’t use drugs, don’t drink while driving, don’t throw away litter from the car, by doing so, you are already helping Cambodia.”

Therefore, don’t ask what Cambodia has done for us, but as Khmer, ask what we have done for our country. And the simplest answer is to improve ourselves to become a good citizens, that is already helping Cambodia,” he continued.

He also mentioned the Road Asset Management project, and the progress of construction on National Road 7 (Kratie – Tbong Khmum), which is now 80% complete.

This section of the road is 164 kilometres long, constructed to improve the quality of the road from DBST to AC and is divided into three main works. It will take 18 months to complete and 36 months of maintenance. The project has been constructed by Chinese companies at a cost of over US$36 million.
