World Bank Provides US$60m Loan for Waste Management Project in Cambodia

The World Bank (WB) has provided approximately US$60 million in loans to improve solid waste and plastic waste management in Cambodia, according to the Ministry of Interior’s announcement on 22 November.

The project will run for six years in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Ministry of Environment and the World Bank Technical Working Group.

These stakeholders will study and develop a project to improve the management of solid waste and plastic waste in Cambodia.

In order to meet the conditions for negotiating and approving project proposals, the Ministry of Interior and relevant ministries and institutions have finalized a number of technical documents related to the project as follows:

  • Environmental and Social Implementation Plan (ESCP)
  • Resettlement Impact Policy Framework (RPF) Document
  • Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF)
  • Preliminary Report on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment in Siem Reap (P-ESIA).
