Cambodia Gears Up for a Greener Future with Smart Climate Tech Supported by GGGI

In a significant step towards sustainable development, Cambodia’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on utilising smart climate technology for wastewater management and green transportation initiatives, according to the signing ceremony between HE Peng Po, Minister of Public Works and Transport and Ms Helena McLeod, Deputy Director General of GGGI Institute on 9 May 2024.

This five-year partnership marks a major commitment from both parties to enhance Cambodia’s environmental stewardship. The MoU outlines joint research and implementation efforts focused on improving wastewater management, promoting sustainable transportation practices, and integrating climate-smart technology across these sectors.

The signing ceremony also saw the handover of 800 technical regulations on wastewater systems, available in both Khmer (400) and English (400) versions.

This collaboration builds upon previous successful projects between MPWT and GGGI. Notably, a grant from the Republic of Korea facilitated a joint feasibility study on developing effective wastewater and solid waste management systems in Battambang province.
