Siem Reap River Sidewalk Renovation Project to Begin Soon

The 9km Siem Reap River sidewalk renovation project has reached the environmental and social impact assessment stage, as the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Siem Reap provincial administration last week agreed on four main actions.

According to Siem Reap Deputy Governor Ngan Phirun, those agreed actions include preparing the masterplan for the project; building new parking spaces, pedestrian roads, and bicycle lanes; installing a better sewage and rainwater drainage system; and restoring trees on both sides of the river after the new walkways have been rebuilt.

Approved by the government since November last year, the project is being implemented using the US$5 million remaining budget from the 34-road restoration project in Sihanoukville. (Read more)
