Construction of US$22m Water Supply System Project in Pursat 64% Complete

The construction of a Japanese-funded water supply system project in Pursat worth US$21.9 million has been 64% completed, according to the Pursat Provincial Administration. 

Senior Minister Cham Prasidh, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation inspected the construction progress on 27 January. 

Located in Phsar Leu village, Sangkat Lolok Sor, Pursat city, the construction of the project began in December 2021 and the completion schedule is set for August 2023. 

The project includes a water pumping station with a pumping capacity of 7,260 cubic metres/day, a water treatment plant with a capacity of 6,600 cubic metres/day and an administrative building. The project will also install water pumping and distribution pipes with lengths of 8.3 km and 75.4 km, respectively. 

After the completion, the water supply capacity of Pursat Water Supply Authority will increase to 13,860 cubic metres/ day. With this capacity, by 2025, 86.1% of the urban population and 67.9% of the total population in Pursat will receive clean water.
