A delegation of 25 prominent Chinese business and investment institutions has conducted an in-depth exploratory mission to evaluate large-scale investment opportunities in Cambodia, positioning the Kingdom as their next primary strategic destination. The high-level economic engagement was formalized during a working meeting on August 31, 2026, between H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and the Chinese delegation led by Wang Boyong, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy.

Organized under the framework of the Cambodia Trade and Investment Promotion Association initiative, the delegation sought detailed insights into the Kingdom’s strategic advantages and large-scale project potential. During the discussions, the corporate leaders expressed strong confidence in Cambodia’s economic trajectory and expressed sincere gratitude to the Council for the Development of Cambodia for its strategic guidance and administrative support, confirming their intent to establish concrete investment ventures in the near future.

Welcoming the delegation, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol affirmed Cambodia’s readiness to facilitate major foreign direct investment flows. He emphasized the Kingdom’s highly favorable investment climate, underpinned by long-term peace, political and macroeconomic stability, and a modern legal framework under the new Investment Law, which offers competitive tax incentives, investment protection, and streamlined operational procedures for foreign capital.

Headquartered in Beijing, the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy serves as a premier policy research institute and think tank providing strategic advisory to the Chinese government on innovation, economic development, and international partnerships.
