$7 Million Industrial Projects Proposed to Bolster Sihanoukville’s Economy

Preah Sihanouk province is set to receive a significant economic injection as two companies have submitted proposals to establish new industrial facilities with a combined investment value of nearly $7 million. These projects, focused on plywood production and electronic waste recycling, are strategically designed to stimulate provincial economic growth and generate sustainable employment for the local workforce. The proposal reached a key milestone on May 4, 2026, during a comprehensive site inspection led by His Excellency Long Dimanche, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province.

The inspection was part of the official process to evaluate and register these initiatives as Qualified Investment Projects (QIPs) within Sihanoukville and the Prey Nob district. According to Deputy Governor Long Dimanche, the first project is spearheaded by Mu Yu Decoration Material Co., Ltd., which plans to operate a dedicated plywood manufacturing plant. The second project, proposed by DB Gold Import and Export Co., Ltd., involves establishing an electronic waste processing facility. Both projects are slated for development in the Ou Oknha Heng village area, reflecting a focused expansion of the region’s industrial infrastructure.

By supporting these diverse industrial ventures, the provincial administration aims to broaden the region’s economic base beyond traditional sectors. The inclusion of an electronic waste recycling plant highlights an emerging shift toward environmentally conscious industrial practices and resource recovery, which is increasingly vital for urban management in the rapidly developing province. These proposals are currently undergoing technical and administrative evaluations to ensure full compliance with investment regulations and environmental standards, paving the way for further modernization of the coastal province’s industrial landscape.
