The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has begun work to expand and renovate NR4 under a US$110-million loan from the World Bank, according to an MPWT statement issued on 25 February.

The construction site starts from Bek Chan commune, Ang Snoul district in Kandal province to Bit Trang commune, Prey Nob district in Sihanoukville.

The project includes the expansion of the current road from 7m to 10m wide, renovation of 46 concrete bridges and drains, and construction of 8 new bridges.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in December 2026, the ministry said.

The agreement to renovate NR4 was signed between Cambodia’s government and the World Bank three years ago. There are a total of five bidding packages and those that already have contractors are beginning construction first. (Read more)
