Bidding for NR4 renovation set for completion by March; Construction expected to begin this year

The bidding procedure for the NR4 renovation project is scheduled to be completed by March with construction expected to begin within this year, said Minister of Public and Transport HE Sun Chanthol recently.

During the 2021 Work Progress Review Conference on Thursday 27 January, HE Chanthol stated that currently the bidding of three packages have been completed and the remaining two packages are scheduled to be completed by March.

“We are trying to accelerate the process so that the renovation and expansion can start within this year,” said HE Chanthol.

According to the plan, the three packages that already have contractors will begin the construction first, while the remaining will follow later.

NR4 is 232km long connecting Phnom Penh capital to Sihanoukville, an important port city. Meanwhile, the agreement to renovate NR4 was signed between Cambodia’s government and the World Bank three years ago.
