Saudi Arabia to Establish Embassy in Cambodia

Saudi Arabia has officially announced that a Saudi Embassy in Phnom Penh will be soon established to strengthen cooperation between the two nations. 

Dr Osman Hassan, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions, met with Mr Mohammed Mbark Al Saefi, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia on 6 February to find a suitable location in Phnom Penh for the upcoming embassy. 

The establishment of the embassy aims to further expand cooperation between the two countries in all fields, such as diplomacy, education, sports and trade. 

Dr Osman Hassan congratulated Saudi Arabia on opening its embassy in Cambodia and supported efforts to promote, strengthen and expand bilateral relations in the common interest of the two nations. 

According to the Ministry of Commerce, Cambodia-Saudi Arabia bilateral trade worth US$26 million in 2021, an increase of nearly 40% compared to 2020. 

Cambodia exports major goods to Saudi Arabia such as rice, clothing, footwear and fruits. Major goods that Cambodia imports from Saudi Arabia include plastic products, aluminium, fruits, chemical fertilisers, construction materials and other goods.
