Techo International Airport to Undergo Five Days Final Flight Inspections Ahead of 2025 Launch

Techo International Airport, Cambodia’s largest and only 4F-class airport, will conduct a five-day flight inspection from 8 to 12 September 2024, as it gears up for its scheduled opening in the first half of next year.

HE Sin Chanserivutha, Under-Secretary of State and Spokesman for the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, confirmed that this critical test will ensure all installed devices, including street lighting, navigational aids, and communication systems, comply with international safety standards.

“During the flight inspection, a specialised aircraft equipped with test instruments will assess the performance and safety of all airport systems,” said HE Sin Chanserivutha.

Located 20km south of Phnom Penh, spanning 2,600 hectares across Kandal and Takeo provinces, Techo International Airport is a joint venture between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the OCIC. It is designed to accommodate the world’s largest aircraft, such as the Boeing 747-800 and Airbus A380-800.

With the project already 84% complete as of the end of August 2024, the construction costs have reached USD 1.22 billion, making it a pivotal development in Cambodia’s infrastructure. (Read more)
