Chinese Energy Producer Aims to Expand in Cambodia, Targeting Agriculture and Energy Sectors

In a significant development for Cambodia’s economy, Chilwee Group, a leading energy producer from Zhejiang Province, China, is looking to expand its operations in Cambodia, with a focus on agriculture and energy.

This announcement was made during a working meeting on February 28, 2025, between Mr. Lan Yingtong, Chairman of the Battery Scale Commission and President of the China Battery Industry Association, and H.E. Chea Wutty, Secretary-General of the Cambodia Investment Committee.

The discussion highlighted Cambodia’s substantial potential, particularly in the agriculture and agro-industry sectors. H.E. Chea Wutty emphasized opportunities in cashew nut processing and identified key provinces suitable for cashew nut cultivation.

In the energy sector, Chilwee Group specializes in producing batteries for various applications, including solar power, energy storage, and motorcycle power. H.E. Chea Wutty encouraged the delegation to make prompt investment decisions to capitalize on Cambodia’s favorable investment climate.

In response, Mr. Lan Yingtong expressed gratitude to the CDC for its comprehensive overview of the investment climate in Cambodia. He indicated that the company would consider investing in the country, as recommended by H.E. Chea Wutty.

This collaboration represents a strategic shift that could enhance Cambodia’s agricultural productivity while promoting renewable energy initiatives. It reflects the growing trend of foreign investment aimed at sustainable development in the region.
