Dang Kambit Reservoir Development Project Surpasses 63% Completion in Kampong Thom Province

The Dang Kambit Reservoir Dam construction project in Sre Khsach Village, Sandan District, has reached an impressive 63.2% completion, as confirmed by a recent progress inspection led by H.E. Chuon Bithol, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology.

During the inspection, H.E. Bithol outlined the detailed progress of the project, which is set to enhance water supply and irrigation in the region. Key milestones include:

– Spillway Construction: Phase 1 completed at 100% and Phase 2 at 60%

– Non-Spillway Construction: 55% complete

– Left Earth Dam: Completed at 95%

– Right Earth Dam: 70% complete

– Phase 1 Floodgate: Completed at 100%

The Dang Kambit Reservoir Development Project commenced on December 8, 2023, and is scheduled for completion in October 2027, a timeline of 48 months. The ambitious infrastructure features a 2,680-meter-long dam comprising a 1,136-meter-long earth dam, a 50-meter concrete dam, a 306-meter spillway dam, and a 1,188-meter right earth dam.

Once operational, the project is expected to significantly benefit the local communities, providing irrigation resources to approximately 25,000 farming families, or about 85,300 individuals across Baray, Kampong Svay, Prasat Sambor, Sandan, Santuk, and Stoung districts. It is projected to irrigate around 131,323 hectares of rice fields, enhancing yields from 4 tons to an impressive 5.4 tons per hectare. Financed through concessional loans from the Export-Import Bank of China (EXIMBANK) via the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Dang Kambit Reservoir project is also classified as a priority initiative in the Finance Law for Management 2023. (Read more)
