Boeung Choeung Ek Wastewater Treatment Plant Nears Completion at 80% Progress with US$20M Investment

Exciting progress has been made on the construction of the Boeung Choeung Ek Water Treatment Plant, a monumental project valued at over US$20 million. As of July 5, 2023, the plant has reached an impressive completion rate of 80%, with the anticipated deadline set for November 2023.

The Department of Public Works and Transport of Phnom Penh released this update, highlighting the significant strides made in this vital endeavor.

Upon its operation, the wastewater treatment plant will have the capacity to treat a remarkable 5,000 cubic meters of wastewater per day. Furthermore, the project entails the construction of 22 pumping stations, capable of pumping 468 cubic meters of water per hour.

This exceptional facility has been made possible through a generous grant from the Government of Japan, amounting to more than US$20 million. The wastewater treatment plant spans an expansive area of 3 hectares, nestled in Prek Ta Kong 1 village, Chak Angre commune.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held on February 22, 2022, was graced by the esteemed presence of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, and Mr. Mikami Masahiro, the Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia. (Read more)
