ADB-funded US$12-million Pursat Infrastructure Development Project Over 64% Complete

The Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded US$12.9-million sewage system and solid waste landfill development projects in Pursat province are on average over 64% complete and set for final completion soon, according to relevant officials last week.

Being built by Kiri Dang Rek Company, the overall sewage system development is over 62% complete as of July. Thus far, the firm has already built approximately 23 kilometres of new sewage line and restored 23 kilometres of the existing line.

The project also includes the construction of wastewater treatment plant on 3 hectares of land in Sangkat Phteah Prey and the restoration of a 2,800-metRE-long drainage canal.

Within the project, the firm will also build an 18km DBST road on top of the canal system, a 2km concrete road around Phsar Thmei Pursat market, and a 1.5km dam in Sangkat Lolok Sor.

According to the provincial administration, the whole project is expected to cost approximately US$11.5 million and is scheduled for completion in 2022.

Meanwhile, the US$1.4- million solid waste landfill, to date, is also over 67% complete. The project is being by Euoeng Seom Sia Company on over 28 hectares located in Sangkat Roleap.

According to the plan, it is scheduled to be complete by October this year.

These two projects are being implemented through a loan from ADB, and have been studied by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and ADB since 2013, but the actual construction just began in 2020.
