Domestic Development Projects Not Solely Dependent on Foreign Debt, says PM Hun Sen

Cambodia Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen has clarified that the government always contributes to the budget for domestic development projects and does not solely depend on foreign financial aid.

During the Bakeng water treatment plant ground-breaking ceremony on 01 February, PM Hun Sen said that the government always saves up and contributes to necessary development projects.

“Every project requires our contribution, just like this project [Bakeng water treatment plant], the contribution comes from the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority. The budget used in the Chamkarmon project also partially came from the government,” said PM Hun Sen.

“We always have budget for repairing and constructing roads, canals, schools, hospitals, and so on. We have our own money to invest whether big or small,” he added.

According to PM Hun Sen, a total of US$1.4 billion in local investment is expected for 2021, most of which will be allocated for infrastructure development projects. (Read more)
