Battambang Governor Vows to Fix Flood-Damaged Roads Across the City After Rainy Season

Battambang Provincial Governor HE Sok Lou has vowed to repair the flood-damaged pot-holed roads across the city after the end of the rainy season.

This statement was made in response to social media that posted photos of damaged roads in Battambang city with criticism that “Battambang is a civilised city, but do not look at the holey roads.”

HE Sok Lou said on 2 October that when the rainy reason ends, the authority will start repairing those damaged roads, while some roads will be rebuilt according to the budget.

“There are 76 roads in Battambang city and most of them were built a long time ago. Today, a large number of roads are damaged as they have been affected by floods many times,” said HE Sok Lou.

“During the rainy season like this, we can’t fix the road, so please wait until the dry season” he added.

Some roads in Battambang province cannot be repaired as they are affected by ADB projects. ADB team are building drainage and rainwater system so the roads in the areas are damaged. The authority will wait until ABD is done before repairing those roads.
