Battambang’s West of Stung Sangke Sewage Project Nears Completion

Major Infrastructure Upgrade Set to Finish by the End of 2025

The project to construct a wastewater removal system on the western side of Battambang province’s Stung Sangke is nearing completion, with the work having reached almost 100%. The entire project is on track to conclude by the end of 2025.

According to His Excellency Sok Lou, the Governor of Battambang Provincial Board of Governors, speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for two concrete roads in Svay Por and O’Char communes on December 7, 2025, the construction of the wastewater removal system on the west side of Stung Sangke has reached nearly 100% completion. The project is financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and implemented by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. It is designed to collect wastewater from residents’ homes and direct it to a treatment pond covering an area of $8.9$ hectares in Ek Phnom district.

Governor Sok Lou also announced that in 2026, the western bank project will include the construction of 21 roads, spanning approximately 10 kilometers within Battambang City, with other roads to be constructed subsequently.

The Provincial Governor took the opportunity to ask for the understanding and high tolerance of the public for the difficulties they have experienced, such as dust, due to the lengthy and complex process of excavating deep, underground roads.

During the ceremony, the Battambang Provincial Administration shared its vision to develop and organize Battambang City into a clean, green, smart, and walkable city. This vision aims to enhance the city’s aesthetics and boost its appeal to tourists and investors. (Read more)
