Boeung Tumpun Canal Dredging Complete, Facilitating Flood Prevention in Five PP Districts

Dredging and rehabilitation work on the 4km Boeung Tumpun canal has been 100% completed, which hopefully will help mitigate floods in the five main districts of Phnom Penh during the current rainy season.

In the rehabilitation operation, over 12,250 cubic metres of waste and floating grass were collected and removed from the canal to ease the water flow, according to the Cambodian News Agency report on 27 July.

Boeung Tumpun Canal is 3,710 metres long and 30 metres wide linking between Stung Meanchey Canal and Boeung Tumpun Station

The canal plays an important role in releasing water from the Deum Sleng canal, Baraing canal, especially released water from Por Senchey, Sen Sok, Toul Kok and some parts in Chamkarmon and 7 Makara districts.

The authorities have also urged residents to dispose of their garbage properly and avoid throwing it into canals.
