In a significant step towards environmental sustainability, Cambodia and Finland have formalised their partnership to bolster hazardous waste management, particularly focusing on recycling lead-acid batteries. This strategic collaboration aims to pave the way toward carbon neutrality, a shared goal for both nations.

During a pivotal meeting today, HE Dr. Eang Sophallet, Cambodia’s Minister of Environment, welcomed HE Kristiina Kuvaja-Xanthopoulos, the Finnish Ambassador to Cambodia. The meeting emphasised Cambodia’s commitment to an environmental cycle strategy centered on cleanliness, sustainability, and resilience against climate change.

Ambassador Kuvaja-Xanthopoulos commended the ministry for its proactive measures in environmental protection and expressed Finland’s eagerness to share its expertise in waste management and lead acid battery recycling. She reaffirmed Finland’s dedication to capacity building, knowledge transfer, and raising public awareness about environmental issues.
