Chinese Research Institute and Major Corporations Explore Strategic Green Investment Opportunities in Cambodia

In a significant move toward fostering sustainable economic ties, a high-level Chinese delegation comprising leaders from a prominent research institute and several major corporations has initiated talks to explore green investment opportunities within Cambodia. The collaborative effort took center stage during an official meeting held on the afternoon of June 23, 2026, at the Ministry of Environment in Phnom Penh. HE Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Cambodia’s Minister of Environment, hosted the discussion with Mr. Qiu Wenxu, also known as Marx, who serves as the Executive Vice President of The Haikou Silk Road Academy of Social Sciences from China.

During the session, Mr. Qiu highlighted that the visiting Chinese investment group is deeply committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation and deepening the historical relations between Cambodia and China. He emphasized that the primary objective of their mission is to comprehensively assess potential ventures in Cambodia’s environmental and ecological sectors. This exploration aligns with regional goals to implement modern, sustainable solutions that protect natural resources while driving economic progress.

In response, Minister Eang Sophalleth expressed his enthusiastic and unconditional support for the delegation’s investment ambitions, noting that projects prioritizing environmental sustainability are precisely what the nation requires. He elaborated on his vision for the country, stating that he desires to see Cambodia transformed into a meticulously clean, aesthetically pleasing, and genuinely green nation. The minister compared this national aspiration to maintaining one’s own home, where cleanliness and environmental care are paramount. By achieving this green transformation, Cambodia aims to elevate the overall well-being of its population, enhance its national honor, and ultimately position itself as a premier destination that continuously attracts international investors and global tourists.
