Cambodia and Malaysia Set to Boost Investment Cooperation in Key Sectors

In a significant move to enhance economic collaboration, a delegation from Malaysia, including investors, businessmen, and representatives from the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, recently met with officials from Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce. The meeting aimed to explore opportunities for expanded cooperation in the construction and real estate sectors, among others.

The discussion took place on June 26, 2025, during the “Malaysia-Cambodia Trade and Investment Mission 2025 Business Matching & Welcome Dinner.” H.E. Samheng Bora, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, welcomed the Malaysian investors, led by Dato’ Sri Ricky Yaw, President of the Malaysia-Cambodia Business Association (MCBA). During the meeting, Malaysian representatives emphasized their commitment to fostering economic ties and promoting trade and investment initiatives between the two countries. They expressed a particular interest in creating business partnerships within Cambodia’s real estate, construction, manufacturing, retail, agriculture, and high-end services sectors.

His Excellency Samheng Bora highlighted the importance of these discussions, noting that they pave the way for identifying and capitalizing on trade and investment opportunities in Cambodia, aimed at strengthening bilateral economic relations.

In related news, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) reported a robust start to 2025, with 290 investment projects registered in just the first five months, amounting to approximately USD 4.2 billion. The highest percentage of investment came from China at 62.27%, with Cambodia and Singapore following at 23.28% and 9.63%, respectively. (Read more)
