Cambodia and Tajikistan Strengthen Ties in Energy, Agriculture & Education

In a significant move to enhance bilateral relations, Cambodia and Tajikistan have pledged to jointly expand their cooperation in key sectors, including energy, agriculture, and education. This commitment was formalized during a meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on 9 June 2025.

During their discussions, both leaders emphasised the importance of strengthening collaboration in clean energy initiatives, agricultural development, and educational exchanges. They agreed to invite each other for official visits in the future to further solidify their partnership. Additionally, the foreign ministers of the two nations have been tasked with continuing to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation.

President Rahmon expressed enthusiasm about Tajikistan’s potential in the energy sector, noting the country’s ambitious goal of achieving 100% clean energy by 2038. He highlighted Cambodia’s own agricultural strengths, underscoring its capacity to ensure domestic food security while also producing surplus for international markets.

The bilateral meeting provided a platform for both leaders to explore various avenues for cooperation, affirming their commitment to fostering a mutually beneficial relationship. President Rahmon conveyed his confidence that, under the visionary leadership of the Cambodian government, the ties between Tajikistan and Cambodia will flourish, ultimately benefiting both nations and their peoples.

As Cambodia and Tajikistan embark on this journey of collaboration, the focus on sustainable energy and agricultural development promises to pave the way for a bright future for both countries.
