Cambodia and Turkey Partner to Transform Coastal Infrastructure in Kep Province

New Memorandum of Cooperation paves the way for a 1200-meter concrete road to boost the economy and eco-tourism in the Angkol fishing community

On May 14, 2026, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction of Cambodia officially entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, widely known as TİKA, representing the Republic of Turkey. This significant partnership is dedicated to supporting the construction of a 1,200-meter concrete road within the Angkol fishing community, located in the coastal province of Kep. The initiative marks a new milestone in bilateral relations, focusing on grassroots development and coastal community empowerment.

The infrastructure project is poised to bring transformative changes to the local population. By replacing outdated pathways with a durable concrete structure, the project will substantially ease daily travel for residents and improve overall access to the community. Furthermore, this enhanced connectivity is expected to stimulate local economic activities by allowing smoother transport of goods, while simultaneously unlocking and supporting the sustainable eco-tourism potential of the scenic Angkol fishing area.
