Cambodia Inks Landmark Agreements with Chinese Corporate Giants on Three Transformative Projects

The Cambodian government has forged pivotal agreements with Chinese corporate giants on three transformative development projects. These monumental partnerships, unveiled during the “Third Belt and Road Forum” in Beijing, promise to reshape Cambodia’s technological landscape and boost its economic prowess.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, the Royal Government of Cambodia signed a groundbreaking framework agreement for the ” Funan Techo Canal ” waterway project with China Bridge and Road Corporation.

The Council of Ministers has greenlit the implementation of the Tonle Bassac Navigation and Logistics System Project, christened the ” Funan Techo Canal ” This ambitious endeavour, valued at an impressive US$1.7 billion, is set to grace the waterways and will unfold over a span of four years. Cambodia is set to become a trading partner with the e-commerce giant Alibaba, as a partnership with the Electronic World Trade Forum (eWTP) has received the Royal Government’s seal of approval. This collaboration aims to foster a Cambodian technology nursery that will drive exports and galvanize the nation’s e-commerce markets. Moreover, it’s designed to equip Cambodian talents with advanced digital technology and bolster the burgeoning tourism sector.

Simultaneously, the Cambodian government has inked an agreement with tech titan Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., marking a significant leap into the digital realm. This accord, initiated by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, signals a transformative journey towards advancing Cambodia’s digital sector.

These landmark agreements between Cambodia and China are not only symbolic of their unshakable diplomatic ties but also hold the promise of tremendous progress and prosperity for the kingdom.
