Cambodia Granted Right from Sinovac to Set Up Vaccine Production Plants Locally

Cambodia has been licensed by a Chinese company to produce Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines, with support from the Chinese government and the Cambodian government.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen at the inauguration of 37 roads and two water treatment plants in Sihanoukville on 2 December.

A local company had been granted the right to produce the Sinovac vaccine in Cambodia, said PM Hun Sen.

“We have been granted the right to produce vaccines in our country, which can enable us to produce for domestic use and also to export. We will never know when COVID-19 will end. So, we have to be well-prepared,” he added.

As of early December, Cambodia has vaccinated about 88% of the population, while Cambodia also has about 10 million COVID-19 vaccines currently in stock.
