Cambodia-japan Eyeing Cooperation to Promote Waste Water Management

The government of Cambodia and Japan are eyeing for cooperation to promote waste water management in Cambodia following a meeting between the two parties on 26 February 2019.

According to a press release, the meeting between H.E Bong Bunhuon under-secretary of MPWT and Mr Hiroyuki Ishii, representative of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) is aimed to discuss about feasibility to cooperate on technical cooperation project related to the drafting law and technical standards as well as strengthening the management of waste water system.

H.E Bong Bunhuon said that Cambodia still needs experts and technicians from development partners to further enhance the knowledge of new technologies for the ministry officials in order to develop waste water policy, regulatory provisions, management, and the construction of networks and treatment facilities across the country.

Moreover, H.E also said that the ministry has been cooperating closely with development partners in promoting clean water and sanitation, especially with the Japanese counterpart.
