Cambodia, Korea signed an MOU to do a feasibility study on the establishment of the SEZ in Cambodia

Cambodia and Korea have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to study the possibility of establishing a Cambodia-Korea Special Economic Zone in a specific sector aimed at attracting more Korean investors to Cambodia.

The Memorandum of Understanding on Investment Cooperation was signed by the Council for the Development of Cambodia and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea under the chairmanship of His Excellency Hun Manet, Prime Minister, and HE YOON Suk Yeol, President of the Republic of Korea on May 16, 2024.

At the same time, the MoU is designed to strengthen cooperation on investment facilitation between the two countries by creating a favourable environment that facilitates the establishment and operation of investment and business activities.

It should be remembered that in the past, in addition to Korea, Japan also planned to study and organize the establishment of the Cambodia-Japan Special Economic Zone, a large special economic zone created to encourage more Japanese investors to invest in Cambodia. (Read more)

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom also requested cooperation with Cambodia on the project to create a “Green Special Economic Zone” in Cambodia to contribute to the protection of the global environment, while India wants to establish a special economic zone in Cambodia focusing on technology.
