Cambodia Refines Nearly 1,500kg of Gold Ore in 7 Months

Australian firm Renaissance Limited (Cambodia), which received a license to operate Cambodia’s first commercial-scale gold mining in Mondulkiri province, has refined nearly 1,500kg of gold ore in seven months.

The amount of gold ore was presented by HE Suy Sem, Minister of Mines and Energy during a hand-over ceremony of the ministry’s building to the National Committee for Disaster Management, on 14 January.

Launching production in June 2021, Cambodia’s first commercial gold refining plant is projected to have a refining capacity of about 3 tons per year.

The gold production is expected to generate an average gross revenue of US$185 million per year, of which Cambodia will also earn US$40 million per year in royalties and taxes.
