Cambodia Surpasses $600 Million Revenue Milestone in Global Rice Exports

Strategic expansion into European and ASEAN markets drives record-breaking year for the Kingdom’s agricultural sector as total exports exceed nine hundred thousand tons

Cambodia’s agricultural sector has achieved a significant economic victory in 2025, recording over $602.41 million in revenue from the export of milled rice to international markets. Over the course of the twelve month period, the Kingdom successfully shipped a total of 940,321 tons of rice, facilitated by sixty-eight dedicated exporting companies, according to the statement released on 5 January 2026 by the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF). This performance highlights the growing global demand for Cambodian rice varieties and the success of national efforts to diversify export destinations, which now span across seventy-five different countries and regions.

The European market emerged as the primary driver for this growth, with twenty-eight countries in the region importing 339,417 tons of Cambodian rice, valued at approximately $258.28 million. Meanwhile, exports to China and Hong Kong reached 231,125 tons, generating $38.36 million in revenue. Within the ASEAN region, eight member states purchased a combined 273,657 tons worth $117.62 million. The remaining 96,122 tons were distributed to twenty-seven other destinations including markets in Africa and the Middle East, contributing an additional $88.15 million to the total annual earnings.

In addition to the high volume of milled rice, Cambodia’s trade in paddy rice also saw substantial activity throughout 2025. Data from the Cambodia Rice Federation indicates that the country exported 6,859,930 tons of paddy rice, primarily to neighboring markets, bringing in an estimated $1,579.86 million. The combination of milled and paddy rice exports underscores the vital role of the rice industry in the Kingdom’s macroeconomic stability and rural development. As the government continues to invest in modern irrigation and processing technology, the industry is well-positioned to meet the increasing quality standards of global consumers.
