Smart Agriculture Takes Root in Kampong Speu as Parliamentary Delegation Reviews 68 Hectare Model Farm

In a bid to assess and promote the modernization of Cambodia’s agricultural sector, the Third Committee of the National Assembly recently conducted a high-level field inspection of a major smart farming initiative in Kampong Speu province. Led by His Excellency Loy Sophat, Chairman of the Committee, alongside a team of technical experts, the parliamentary delegation traveled to Oral district on June 26, 2026. The visit aimed to gather firsthand insights into sustainable agricultural practices and examine how large-scale private investments are reshaping traditional farming into high-tech, climate-resilient enterprises.

At the center of the delegation’s visit was an expansive integrated farm developed by Khee Chenda Development Co., Ltd. Spanning a total of 68 hectares in Domabang Venh village, located within the Sangke Satop commune, the commercial farm serves as a regional model for modern, intelligent, and sustainable agriculture. During the tour, Mr. Tang Sokkhee, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the company, briefed the lawmakers on their operational strategies, highlighting how the integration of advanced technology and eco-friendly management has optimized yields while preserving local natural resources.

The farm currently boasts a highly diverse production line, focusing heavily on premium fruits and certified safe vegetables to meet growing consumer demands for clean food options. Among the fruit crops currently under cultivation are bananas, mangoes, pomelos, Pursat oranges, limes, coconuts, papayas, and longans, alongside seasonal field crops like corn, pumpkins, and sweet potatoes. In addition to the orchards, the company has dedicated significant acreage to safe vegetable production, yielding steady harvests of winter melons, luffas, winged beans, water spinach, and bitter melons. This diverse crop portfolio not only ensures year-round economic viability for the enterprise but also demonstrates a viable pathway toward reducing Cambodia’s reliance on imported agricultural goods.
