Cambodia Welcomes Surge in Czech Tourists: Nearly 4,000 Visit in Early 2025

In a promising start to 2025, Cambodia has welcomed nearly 4,000 Czech tourists from January to May, showcasing a healthy growth in bilateral tourism between the two nations. This increase in visitors highlights the strengthening ties between Cambodia and the Czech Republic, particularly in the tourism sector.

During a meeting on July 8, 2025, H.E. Huot Hak, Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism, and H.E. Martin Vávra, the Czech Republic’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cambodia, discussed ongoing and future cooperation. The ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in various areas, emphasizing the bilateral commitment to enhancing tourism collaboration.

Minister Huot Hak acknowledged the ambassador’s contributions over the past years and encouraged the Czech Embassy to continue promoting Cambodia’s positive political, economic, and social landscape, particularly in terms of investment opportunities and tourism potential, to Czech leaders and citizens.

The growth trend in Czech tourism has been evident over the years, with approximately 4,000 visitors in 2023, nearly 6,000 in 2024, and maintaining a steady influx in 2025. According to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cambodia, this upward trajectory demonstrates a robust interest in Cambodian culture and attractions.

In addition, Cambodia’s tourism industry is experiencing significant growth overall. The Angkor Foundation reported over USD 27 million in revenue from ticket sales to iconic sites in the first half of 2025. This success coincides with a notable increase in air travel, as more than 3.4 million passengers have passed through Cambodia’s three international airports, marking a 16% rise compared to the same period in the previous year.
