Cambodian Government to Construct Another Multi-million Stadium

In a bid to promote the sports sector, the Cambodian government has announced plans to build another multi-million dollar sports stadium located Serey Sophorn City, Banteay Meanchey Province, according to government news agency Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP).

During the first phase of construction, the complex will cover 5.5 hectares of land while the next phase will cover 13 hectares and in the future, ultimately expand an area of over 20 hectares.

The government plans to spend US$5 million on the first phase of the development, an additional commercial centres as well as municipal administration buildings will also be constructed around the area.

According to the same source, the Banteay Meanchey provincial authorities have already solved problems regarding the impact of the project. In addition, the authorities have already cleared three 20-metre roads that will connect to the stadium.

The project is likely to be finished by 2023 as one of the main goals for the construction of this new stadium is to assist the 2023 SEA Games which will be held in Cambodia.
