Cambodia’s Four Coastal Provinces Receive US$100m for Sustainable Marine Development Projects

A US$100 million fund from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and French Development Agency (FDA) has been approved for implementing sustainable marine development projects in four of Cambodia’s coastal provinces including Koh Kong, Sihanoukville, Kampot and Kep.

ADB will contribute US$70 million including loans and grant aid, while AFD will provide US$30 million.

Kep Deputy Governor Vov Sokha met with ADB representative Saunders Lindsay on 27 April to discuss the progress of several projects in his province.

For Kep province, there are multiple projects being implemented including the development of four ports in Kep city and Damnak Chang Eur district to facilitate the boat docking of fishermen and tourists.

ADB is also funding the construction of a 12km beachfront road, a landfill, and a new Koh Tonsay port, among others. (Read more)

Besides, the provincial administration is also working on the construction of a 2,700-metre public beach from the Crab Market to the mangrove forest area. (Read more)
