China to Invest in Tourism Development Along the Funan Techo River

The China Railway Bridge and Road Corporation (CRBC) has announced its intention to invest in the development of a potential tourism area along the Funan Techo River. This initiative aims to boost tourism in the provinces situated alongside the river, as confirmed during a meeting between H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and Mr. Wang Huan, a representative from CRBC.

During the meeting, company representatives outlined their investment activities and sought recommendations from the Ministry of Tourism for future projects. The proposed tourism development will prioritize conservation while enhancing the local economy, with a focus on improving the livelihoods of communities near the river.

Minister Huot Hak commended CRBC for its contributions to crucial sectors in Cambodia, which have aided in driving economic growth and advancing the tourism industry. He expressed strong support for the company’s ongoing engagement with the Cambodian government and outlined the potential for incentive policies to further boost tourism initiatives along the river.

The Minister also encouraged CRBC to attract additional investors to develop tourism infrastructure in the provinces along the Funan Techo River, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices in this endeavor.

As for the Funan Techo River development, the Ministry of Public Works announced that excavation work is expected to commence when water levels recede, potentially in late November or early December 2025, with a projected completion date in 2028. (Read more)
