Siem Reap Receives a Heartfelt Gift: Cardiac Surgery (PCI) Building Funded by Christian Association

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is set to contribute to the Siem Reap Provincial Referral Hospital by constructing a state-of-the-art Cardiac Surgery (PCI) building. This philanthropic endeavour was unveiled during a meeting between Mrs You Sophea, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap, and the Christian association on 10 October 2023.

The project outlines the construction of a two-story Cardiac Surgery (PCI) building, accompanied by a three-storey blood centre equipped with modern facilities for vascular examinations, cardiology, and emergency treatments. Approval from the association’s president is pending, having already received a green light from the group’s Asia president.

The Christian association’s goodwill doesn’t end here. Their commitment to the development of Siem Reap has taken various forms, including:

  1. Educational Endeavours: The association has actively participated in school development. It’s either repaired or constructed a total of 12 school buildings. Their involvement extends to three ongoing projects, such as bathroom renovations, school building improvements, incinerator installations, pathway construction, water filter provision, and nutritional assistance to 500 underprivileged families each month.
  2. Sotnikum Hospital: This hospital has been a beneficiary of the association’s generosity. They’ve assisted in resolving the hospital building’s drainage system and the community’s drainage canal. Furthermore, they’ve breathed new life into old hospital structures, building emergency rooms, laboratories, and operating rooms, and supplying new generators for hospital use. The association also undertook repairs and the installation of oxygen networks.

Notably, the Siem Reap Provincial Referral Hospital has recently received a magnificent addition in the form of a new Surgery Service Centre building, worth US$19 million, thanks to the support of the Royal Government of Japan. This facility, which is now 100% complete, is on the verge of an official inauguration. (Read more)
