Construction of ADB-funded landfill in Kep 90% complete

Construction of an 8-hectare landfill in Prey Thom commune of Kep city has been over 90% completed as of September 2021, while the completion date will be delayed from October this year to early next year.

According to a report from the Kep Provincial Administration, the landfill project is being built under an ADB loan under the ADB’s Greater Mekong Sub-region Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project phase II.

Construction began in May 2020 and is set for completion in October 2021. However, additional four months has been added to the construction period due to the shortage of labour caused by the Covid-19 crisis.

The ADB’s Greater Mekong Sub-region Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project phase II has a total budget of US$30 million.

The budget is used to implement many projects such as the US$10.5-million Kep coastal road improvement, the US$1.6-million tourism port on Koh Tonsay, among others.
