Construction of Chroy Changvar – Svay Chrom Bridge Could Begin Next Year

Construction of the Chroy Changvar-Svay Chrum bridge could begin next year, as the government has listed this project in the prioritized list for the 2022 spending plan, according to the draft law on financial management 2022 of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The draft law states there are seven prioritized infrastructure development projects to be implemented next year’s spending plan (through foreign and local funding sources), and the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Chroy Changvar-Svay Chrum bridge is among them.

This bridge will connect the Chroy Changvar area of Phnom Penh to Lvea Em district of Kandal province across the Mekong River. The project was announced last year and will be funded by the Republic of Korea.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT)’s spokesman Vasim Sorya in July, South Korean experts are still studying the design and choosing locations for the bridge. (Read more)
