Construction of Phnom Penh International Airport Over 30% Complete

Construction of the new Phnom Penh International Airport is now over 30% complete, while the progress is going as scheduled despite the recent flooding.

State Secretariat for Civil Aviation (SSCA)’s spokesman Sin Chansereyvutha said on 28 October that progress has slowed slightly due to the effects of the floods. However, the company was well-prepared for any potential natural disaster, making construction continue as planned.

“In the previous report, 28% of the construction was completed and today, about 30% is expected to be completed,” he said, adding that the company will submit an update report soon.

The US$1.5-billion airport, of which 90% of the shares are owned by OCIC and 10% is owned by the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, sees phase one of the construction scheduled to be completed in 2023.
