Construction of Two Major Bridges Connecting to Koh Norea Over 14% Complete

Construction of two major bridge projects, one of which connects Koh Pich city to Koh Norea and another connecting Koh Norea to NR1, on average are over 14.7% complete as of September, according to Koh Norea Project Manager Men Poly.

Mr Poly told Construction & Property Magazine on Wednesday that the bridge connecting Koh Norea to NR1 is only 2.5% complete, while the other connecting Koh Pich city to Koh Norea is 27% complete.

Being developed by the Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC), ground was broken on the two bridges in October last year, marking a new stage of the US$2.5-billion satellite city.

The first bridge connecting NR1 to Korea is a rainbow-shaped concrete bridge that is 16 metres long and 21 metres wide while the construction is expected to cost US$1.6 million.

Meanwhile, the second bridge connecting Koh Pich to Koh Norea is expected to cost US$38 million. It is 824 metres long and 24.5 metres wide and has two 60-metre-high cable-stayed pillars with Khmer carvings. The bridge has four main lanes and two motorbike lanes of 3.25 metres and 1.24 metres wide each.

These two bridges are part of the OCIC’s mega project of turning Koh Norea into a new satellite city.

To date, the construction of overall infrastructure for Koh Norea is over 48% complete. (Read more)
