Progress Report on National Road 5: Final Section Construction Updates

As of early February 2025, significant progress has been made on the final section of National Road 5, stretching from Seri Sophon to Poipet. With a total length of 35.14 kilometers, this crucial infrastructure project is currently 29% complete and is on track for completion in 2026.

HE Phon Rim shared the update as the Ministry of Public Works and Transport spokesperson during a press briefing on 6 January 2025. Construction began on 22 November 2023 and is advancing steadily, supported by a planned budget of USD 1.7 million, funded through a combination of resources from the Cambodian government and loan assistance from the Japanese government. It is important to note that this section of National Road 5 commenced later than other segments due to its later bidding process and subsequent start date for construction. As development continues, this vital roadway is expected to enhance connectivity and economic growth in Banteay Meanchey province and beyond. (Read more)
