Gov’t to Speed Up Land Dispute Resolution in SHV for Multi-Purpose SEZ

The Ministry of Environment has vowed to speed up the land dispute resolution in Sihanoukville to prepare the province to be the hub of industrial and trade activities in the kingdom and known as a multi-purpose economic zone.

Minister of Environment HE Say Sam Al stated on 25 November that the land dispute is the most prioritised task the government has to deal with to achieve the development goal, and his ministry is doing its best at the moment.

According to Sihanoukville Governor HE Kouch Chamroeun,  from the beginning of 2020 to November 2022, a total of 2,290 land disputes have been filed with the provincial administration.

To date, the provincial administration has examined and resolved a total of 1,587 cases, including 81 land disputes between people and people.

The provincial administration made 448 response reports to institutions and wrote 287 response letters to petitioners,  771 case files (single complaints to multiple institutions), land disputes and other requests.

The master plan to transform Sihanoukville into a multi-purpose special economic zone is a large-scale government project with the aim to transform SHV into second China’s Shenzen. (Read more)
