Expressway Postponed to September as Construction 93% Complete

The opening of Cambodia’s first expressway project between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville has been postponed from July to September, with 93% of construction completed by the first week of June.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport asked the company to speed up construction work to ensure that future pilot projects meet the plan. BTV quoted HE Yin Bunna, Secretary of State of the Ministry, as saying on 07 June.

He said that the official launch of the expressway will be possible by the end of this year or early next year, and the construction company is currently preparing to install traffic lights and toll plazas.

At a cost of about US$2 billion, the 190-kilometre expressway was built by China Road and Bridge Engineering. (Read more)
