GDT to Launch Property Tax Application Soon

The General Department of Taxation (GDT) plans to launch a property tax application in 2021 to ease tax payment and help maintain social distance during the pandemic.

According to GDT Director-General HE Kong Vibol during a live show reporting GDT’s work progress on 17 December, the application is almost ready, but GDT officials have to go through training first before launching the app.

“…Property tax app will be launched soon, maybe 2021. For those who have already registered with GDT, you can pay tax through the app by just typing in the property ID card number,” said HE Kong.

He added app users do not have to go to the bank or tax branch to pay the tax. If the information is complete, you can make a payment through the app. When completed, the app will also automatically issue an electronic receipt.

The app also allows you to check property tax payment records whether or not you have paid the tax, how much you owe, and other information.

As of 16 December 2020, GDT has collected tax revenue of over US$2.6billion, or equal to 94.63% of the plan.
