Germany Conducts Sustainable Ecocity Transformation Project in Phnom Penh

The Federal Republic of Germany, through a project entitled Build4People, is conducting a study to transform the quality of life of the residents in Phnom Penh toward a sustainable residential development system.

This project was presented at a 4-day workshop on “Ecocity Transformation Lab, Enhancing Quality of Life through Sustainable Urban Transformation in Cambodia“ on 14-18 March hosted in the presence of Phnom Penh Deputy Governor HE Nuon Pharath and Ambassador of Germany to Cambodia HE Christian Berger.

The overall goal of the project is to improve urban life through the construction of sustainable buildings, sustainable community development, and the expansion of green infrastructure. In addition, there is a focus on strengthening resilience to the effects of climate change.

HE Noun Pharath said that good living does not mean that one is living in a modern high-rise building, but rather refers to living in a good environment

He also urged the study of this project to proceed quickly, hoping to push it toward the implementation stage soon.
