Global Hospitality Brand Le Meridien to Set New Standards in Sihanoukville

Marriott International has inked an agreement with The Grand Lion Group to introduce the Le Méridien brand to Cambodia’s coastal city of Sihanoukville by 2022, according to TTR Weekly.

The hotel will be part of the Gold Coast at Sihanoukville project reportedly costing more than USD200 million. The first international branded property in Sihanoukville, Le Méridien will be built on 1.67 hectares of land along the coast, with 388 rooms in a 58-storey development.

Located approximately 17km from the airportand nearby Koh Puoh Bridge, the hotel will feature restaurants, bars, a fitness centre and wellness spa, meeting rooms, and an exclusive beachfront club with infinity pools.

According to TTR Weekly, the project will be designed by Bangkok-based Tandem Architects and built by Nath Land Development, a division of the Grand Lion Group. Construction is expected to start in January 2019 while the opening is slated for January 2022.

“With the increasing growth in visitation to Cambodia, the time is ripe for us to introduce a global hospitality brand in Sihanoukville. Gold Coast at Sihanoukville will complement the Courtyard by Marriott Siem Reap and the nearby Angkor Archaeological Park by providing an extended stay for guests to explore another dimension of Cambodia,” Chairman and CEO of the Grand Lion Group, Lundy Nath told TTG Asia.

“This mega project aims to be among the first to open a new chapter in luxury beach destination experiences in Sihanoukville,” he added.
