Gov’t Establishes Inter-Ministerial Committee for PP-Bavet Expressway Development Project

The Cambodian government has set up an inter-ministerial committee to accelerate the Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway project.

According to the statement dated 16 September, the expressway connecting Phnom Penh to Bavet has been proposed for investment by China Road and Bridge Corporation under a basic framework of build-operate transfer.

HE Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport, has been appointed as Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee, according to the statement signed by Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen.

Three senior officials from relevant ministries have been appointed as three deputy chairmen along with other 15 members.

This inter-ministerial committee is tasked to review and advise on the procedures, legal framework, and overall view of the investment in the Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway project.

In addition, the committee is also asked to report on the results of work to the government through the Office of the Council of Ministers. (Read more)
